What to expect:

ABSOLUTELY NO MAIN ROADS! This ride connects most of the internal and not explored roads especially in the Changthang Region. Small villages, interesting people and awesome off rods! The ride takes you through serene, less explored landscapes of Ladakh. Here are some important things you should know about this ride!

This ride goes through the highest of the altitude and some of the coldest parts of Ladakh. It offers a tough ride through remote places in Ladakh. Challenging yet super fun!

The Highlight

6 beautifully serene lakes including the world famous Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri, a sweet water lake and Tsokar on our way back to Leh.
Highest Mountain passes- Umling La (19300 feet), Chang La (17600 feet) & Tanglang La (17480 feet)
Changthang- We will be visiting Hanle village. It’s a very beautiful village with lot of wild life around. It is also known for Hanle Monastery and Hanle Observatory, which is the world’s second highest Astronomical observatory.
This ride offers a great mix of riding terrain (off roads, tarmacs, sand, broken tarmac all of it in just one ride)
Spectacular, diverse, colourful landscapes of the Himalayas, wild life at places and plenty of locations for photography.

This ride goes through a very challenging route and is not for beginners. Someone who enjoys the off roads and challenges that comes with it should join this ride. Interested in fun, adventure, thrill, mountain life, photography, wildlife, culture, motorcycle rides, and being in nature with absolute peace then this ride is for you.

Love exploring and experiencing places & routes less travelled; this ride is for you!

This ride is NOT for those people who have been in Ladakh before & say” Ladakh is crowded and there is nothing much to see”. Better stay away from such new Indian social media wannabes, thirsting to travel on Facebook & Instagram. The Himalayas have a lot to offer and this ride is for people who want to experience a different Ladakh and visit places beyond regular tourist spots only with Tourbugs.

Day wise itinerary:

Day 1

Arrival Leh Airport

We will meet, greet, assist, and transfer you to Hotel in Leh. Free day to acclimatize to the high altitude. Remember, rest is very important on this day as the body needs to acclimatize well before we hit the road. Dinner at Hotel.

Day 2

Leh to Pangong Tso

Start your day early. Post breakfast we will go for a ride around. The terrain of Himalayas is going to take you by surprise.

Once we are back at the hotel, relax a little and start packing for the ride. As next day is when we actually begin our ride. Sort out riding gears, pack your bags. Dinner at Hotel.

Day 3

Pangong to Hanle:

Get ready to hit the unexplored road towards Hanle. Less explored is where we thrive. This is our forte and we are sure that you will love exploring this new region with us.

The ride will continue along the Pangong Lake. We will be covering complete length of Pangong Tso during this ride. The sudden change in terrain is exciting. The shades of mountains in this region stand out and you cannot get enough of this colourful beauty!

Day 4

Hanle to Umling La to Nyoma:

Post breakfast we will start our ride. This is a very important day of the ride as we will be riding to the Undoubtable Highest Motorable pass- Umling La which is at 19300 feet making it higher than Khardung La.

Overnight stay at Nyoma.

Day 5

Nyoma:

Relax and recover.
If everyone is felling okay, we will do some trails around this place.
Overnight stay in a homestay in Nyoma.

Day 6

Nyoma to Tso Moriri:

We will take an adventurous road on this day!
On this day, we will be witnessing beauty of two very rarely visited lakes namely, Rayul Tso & Chilling Tso!

Another route is the usual one. You will see the different colors of mountains, wild horses & scenery like wall paintings. The beauty of the place changes once we take left turn from Mahe Bridge. The last 25kms of ride is boon for off-road lovers. This route is very scenic & good place to experience plateaus in Himalayas.

Tsomoriri is not as big as Pangong Tso but it has its own charm & beauty to experience it. It’s a sweet water lake.

Day 7

Tso Moriri to Tso Kar:

On the way to Tso Kar witness huge Phosphorus Mountains. The roads are very lonely yet scenic enough to sooth your eyes. It is hard to believe that Tso Kar is Salt Lake in the Himalayas as Pangong Tso. Visit Tsokar, here you will spot lots of wild animals like Tibetan wild ass, rare black-necked crane, Mormot etc.

Day 8

Tsokar (Salt Lake)- More Plains- Leh:

We will continue our journey from the famous Moore Plains. Situated in a plateau, it is a relatively flat piece of land located at the altitude of 15,400ft. This is one of the amazing sights to watch. We will make a stop to click photographs of these plains. Make the most of it, you can get some really nice shots here.

Roads to Tanglangla is icing on cake. This is one of the most comfortable journeys towards another high pass Tanglang-La. Overnight stay in Leh. This will be your last night in Leh.

Day 9

Airport Drop

Post breakfast, check out from the Hotel.

Luggage:

Carry only essentials that you need for your use since the flight allowance in domestic flights in India is only 15+7 kgs. Avoid paying excess baggage.

Essentials you should have:

Enough clothes for the entire ride
Warm wear - Pull overs, sweaters, thermal wear, or anything else you feel is required by you in low temperatures.
Good tint or clear glasses to wear for protection against sun and dust.
One pair of sandals, flip flops, or sneakers that you are comfortable with.
Hiking pants / shorts or any other basic hiking gear you might want to carry.
Enough underclothes and socks.
Medicines if you are on a certain routine medication and any other medication you think you might need.
Free luggage space if you intend to shop for souvenirs from the trip.

All the above gear should preferably be waterproof in case the weather goes bad. It gets cold when it rains or snows.

Riding Gear:

Good certified full-face helmets.
Jacket and riding trousers with protection. Alternatively, a good set of knee and elbow guards.
Riding boots with protection. Alternatively, you may wear a good pair of high ankle boots with steel / composite toe protection.
Riding thermal gloves with protection.
Good tint or clear glasses to wear in the helmet for protection against sun and dust
All the above riding gear should preferably be waterproof in case the weather goes bad or proper rain gear to wear over the riding gear. It gets cold when it rains or snows.
You may carry hydration packs, tank bags, GPS systems, etc as per your convenience.

Other things to carry:

Phone, camera, video camera, spare memory cards and chargers.
Spare spectacles if you wear powered lenses.
Flashlight.
Energy bars / Dry fruits / Electrolytes to carry on you at all times.
Anything else that you feel you need to have.

To keep in mind:

This adventure tour covers some harsh mountain terrain so you need to promise yourself that you have enough experience to enjoy yourself safely.
We also suggest that you have valid travel insurance at the time of the tour.
Do make sure you are physically fit to do the tour.
Avoid using radio communication devices /satellite phones on the tour for security reasons
